Disabled Parking

The car park by Southwold Pier has 16 spaces specifically reserved for disabled drivers. These have wider bays for easy access.

All other car parks in Southwold are unlined, so whilst disabled motorists will be able to use them, there are not defined spaces allocated and the surface may not be as smooth as in the lined car park at the Pier.

Blue badge holders can park for free where there are:

  • Parking meters
  • Pay and display machines
  • Special places for disabled people with a blue wheelchair symbol

Parking on yellow lines is allowed for up to three hours if there isn’t a ban on loading. You have to wait for at least 1 hour before you go back and park there again. Please remember that you must not park where it is dangerous, creates difficulties for people, blocks pedestrians and other road users or is too close to a junction.

Campervans and motorhomes (also referred to as motor caravans) that exceed 5.5m in length are permitted in the East Suffolk managed car park at  Southwold Pier, Southwold, IP18 6BN (in designated motor caravan bays).   However, these vehicles must not exceed 8m in length.

Please also be aware that while all suitable vehicles may park overnight, no camping or sleeping in vehicles is allowed in these spaces.

On Street Parking

Many roads in Southwold have no parking restrictions, including stretches along the seafront. These do fill up very quickly, especially in the summer, so we ask that you park safely and with consideration for others.
